The Healing Outlet 1.0

The Healing Outlet was established with the primary objective of uniting youth, community members, healers, and nonprofit organizations within a centralized platform to address gun violence and foster a culture of healing in the District of Columbia. The platform consolidates DC’s most valuable resources, grassroots initiatives, violence intervention strategies, and mental health services to facilitate accessible support.

It also serves as an organized space for service coordination, outreach activities, and community events, aiming to strengthen collaborative efforts. Contributions are encouraged from community members who wish to share resources, provide recommendations, or participate as paid content creators.

Our “Main Outlet” channel provides videos from community voices, informative articles, and straightforward links to government and grassroots support systems. It offers guidance on emergency resources, including locations offering free fresh food within various wards, procedures for creating domestic violence safety plans, overdose prevention information, and mental health hotlines. All resources have been carefully vetted and maintained to ensure relevance and accuracy.

The “Plug In” channel features a calendar of upcoming community events and invites users to submit their own events for promotion.

The Healing Outlet also hosts channels developed by our partners in DC, including Bold Yoga LLC, Speakezie DC, Wake the 8, and ANCRD by Dev. These channels offer motivational curricula, workout videos, mindfulness practices, yoga sessions, and personal stories from community members.

Designed by the DC community for the community, the Healing Outlet aims to facilitate collective efforts to reduce violence. Whether seeking support groups following grief from gun violence, low-cost therapy options, or resources for improving parent-teen communication—this platform strives to connect individuals with appropriate services. It also provides opportunities for community members to engage in meaningful change and help realize a shared vision of safety and healing.
